Sentiance, who already has offices in Antwerp, New York, London, Shanghai and Lithuania, is now establishing a new Canadian base in Toronto.  The team of Kiwi.ai is joining Sentiance as part of the newly-established Canada-based R&D center, which will focus on developing on-device machine learning capabilities.  Sentiance’s new Toronto office also allows the company to tap into the growing AI talent in Canada.

Toon Vanparys, the CEO of Sentiance, commented: 'We have been looking at Canada for some time as the ecosystem for AI talent here is exemplary.  We are thrilled to announce that Kiwi.ai will also be joining our new R&D center. On-device computing is a key component in developing AI technologies that can improve people's lives while respecting users' privacy.”

The Canadian team will further develop Sentiance’s capabilities in on-device processing to provide hyper-personalized customer experiences that adapt to both people's lifestyles and real-time context. The local tech community in Toronto will also fuel the expansion plans of Sentiance to increase the local team over the coming years.

Ali Nawab, CEO of Kiwi.ai said: "We are excited to become part of Sentiance. We have a common vision of the future. Working together we aim to deliver real value by providing personalized experiences that adapt to context while balancing privacy and usability. We look forward to staying in Toronto and helping to grow Canada’s rapidly developing AI ecosystem."

Sentiance worked with the Ontario Investment Office who provided valuable insights in the AI ecosystem in place in the Province. In addition, the Ontario Investment Office also helped with the incorporation of the new entity.

Steven Del Duca, Minister of Economic Development and Growth is delighted to see this new Belgian investment in the Province and added: “Ontario is home to some of the most talented and brilliant AI innovators in the world. Today -- with Sentiance choosing Toronto for its first Canadian R&D location -- we just became even stronger. These kinds of investments are the reason we are competing and winning in a fast-changing and fast-paced 21st-century economy - and I'm thankful to Sentiance for this tremendous vote of confidence in Ontario and our amazing workers."
